High speed internet service provider

What is a high speed internet service provider? Ask that question in a room full of people and you will get several different answers. Some dial up internet providers have what they call an acceleration software program that they claim will give you a faster connection. This faster speed can be up to 5 times faster than normal dial up.

But, most people when they talk about a high speed internet service provider they are meaning cable, DSL, wireless or satellite. You will find that every high speed internet service provider each have their own way of connecting you to the internet and yes their will be a few problems associated with each. But, most are small problems that will not keep you off the internet for long.

A cable high speed internet provider is sometimes referred to as DSL and will give you high speed internet connection. But, cable and DSL are different in the way that you receive your internet connection. This high speed from cable or DSL will allow you to download a page with many graphics in a short amount of time. With cable or DSL the pages will load very fast and you will be able to surf faster, and enjoy playing games without waiting for the page to load. It is more like real time, than dial-up. Some cable providers include Road Runner, Cox, Verizon, and EarthLink. There is a difference between cable and DSL though even though most people think of them as the same. A cable connection is like used for cable television, whereas DSL uses your telephone line. Both will ensure that you are connected to the internet very fast. The weather can cause problems with reception with cable just as it does with your television reception. When your television cable goes out your cable internet connection will probably also be down. As with DSL, how often does your telephone quit working? For DSL providers you will need to turn to your telephone company.

There are many places now that are “hot spots” such as many airports, cafes, hotels, and restaurants. Many convention centers are also including in these “hot spots”. MacDonald restaurants in various states also have the capability for you to connect to the internet using your laptop. These “hot spots” are for public use and they do not charge for the service only your wireless internet provider will charge.
