Wireless internet provider

Many people today are searching for a wireless internet provider. With a wireless internet provider you can connect to the internet on any laptop, notebook, pocket pc, or even some cell phones. Being able to get online anywhere in the world will help you keep up to date with what is going on at your office when you are away.

A wireless internet provider has their own software and browser for you to use and areas in which you can use their service. The main piece of hardware you will need for your laptop or pocketPC is a Wi-Fi card. This 802.11x card will allow you to establish a high speed connection. You will need to be in areas which are normally called “hotspots” so you can connect easily. The range is around 150 to 300 feet indoors in the “hotspots” which are areas like hotels and airports there is extra hardware that covers the signal and expands the coverage area to include meeting rooms, guest rooms and even large airport terminals.

Your wireless internet provider knows how important it is for you to connect and surf at high speeds and most wireless connections are more than 100 times faster than dial-up. According to which company you choose you will receive internet access at 11 megabits per second, 56K dial-up or 3G connection.

Each wireless internet provider will have a list of their “hot spots”. The most popular that many include are airports such as Los Angeles International Airport, Dallas-Forth Worth Airport, and San Jose. They also have connections at several hotels including the Marriott, Hilton and Wyndham. Not only can you be connected through these locations but there are also several convention centers, and cafes. You will need to look at each wireless internet provider to see what their “hot spots” are.

One wireless internet provider is AT&T. They offer different plans and claim their service is 172% faster than dial-up. Their smallest and easiest plan is a one time connect plan. It lasts for 24 hours and you will be able to log on and off anytime during that 24 hour period. The cost for this plan is $9.99. Each region of the United States has a list of “hot spots” where you can connect very easily using their software. The Northwest region has only one “hot spot” which is Seattle-Tacoma International Airport. North Central has several different locations in Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Nebraska, and Wisconsin for you to connect. So, you will need to check to see if where you will be during your connection time is where you can connect.

Another very popular wireless internet provider is Boingo. They have an unlimited plan that is $21.95 per month. You will be able to connect anytime and stay online for as long as you like. They have “hot spots” all over the world which can be very convenient when you have to travel a lot for business. They have around 188 airports, 1,986 cafes and restaurants, 2,716 hotels, 264 retail shops, and 49 convention centers included in their “hot spots”. You will always be able to get a connection with all of these locations.

Wayport is another wireless internet provider. They also have an unlimited plan, which is called their annual membership. You will have to agree to a one year commitment and the price per month is 429.95. They have many “hot spot” locations throughout the United States and even some MacDonald’s restaurants are included.

Finding a great wireless internet provider that has just what you need should not be a problem at all. As long as you know how much time you will need per month, where you will be traveling and how much you wish to spend you will find the perfect wireless internet provider.
